Currency and means of payment
The currency is the Icelandic krona. You can withdraw money with your EC card at many ATMs. Major credit cards can be used to pay in larger shops, restaurants and hotels.

Vaccinations, Health & Water
There are no specific vaccination requirements for a trip to Iceland. Tetanus, polio, diphtheria and hepatitis A vaccinations are generally recommended.

Getting there
By plane: There are regular flights from many airports to Reykjavik (KEF). The flight from Germany takes about 2 hours.

Domestic travel
There is no rail transport or highways in Iceland. Rental cars can only be rented on presentation of a credit card.

Power connections: 220 V, 50 Hz. 2-pin sockets.

Oceanically cool with relatively cold winters.

The national language is Icelandic. English, Danish and German are often understood.
